This Time Around
Mar. 1st, 2004 10:12 pmI realized that I'm never quite so happy as when I'm in a concert. Never mind the undeniably large number of bimbos squealing at unearthly decibels, screaming, fighting, and pushing you. Never mind the stuffy heat. Never mind the tall people that always choose to stand in front of you. When you're just surrounded by the sound of live music, and you're singing along as loud as you want, because there's no one who can hear you, and those boys are just rocking onstage - that's my life. So I'm a Hanson fan, and I'm not ashamed of it. Saw them at the House of Blues last night. My shoulders hurt from holding my backpack, my ears hurt from the noise, and I'm still shivering from the two hours I spent freezing in line, but somehow that all doesn't matter anymore. It's rare you get such a genuine band - one who can sing in perfectly in tune 3-part harmony, and obviously enjoys it. I want to be able to bang the piano like Tay and still have nice sounds come out. If he can do it as a classically trained pianist, well darnit, so can I! Still mostly acoustic concert, but they had 2 or so songs that were, to use a cliche, "rocking the house." And how could a cover of Crosby, Stills, and Nash by them not be adorable? Can't wait for the album to come out.
So I missed the Oscars to go to the concert (something I don't regret). I usually don't watch, but I kind of wish I'd taped it now, to see LOTR finally get the glorious victory that we all knew was coming. 11 Oscars, baby! And well-deserved indeed! It was long overdue, especially after Two Towers winning nothing but paltry trifles last year. And Peter Jackson certainly deserves it! And aren't the four hobbitses together just so cute?! I wish it had got nominated for 12 (and won 12, of course), just to top that annoying Titanic record. Ben-Hur I love. But seriously, Titanic? Gah. I want to be a geek now and cosplay as an elf and go to a LOTR party. Cuz I'm cool like that.
