Well, it did start out as an issue of respecting those with differing political views by not rubbing their noses in a Republican victory. So the argument was, technically, political, even if it's degenerated from there.

How does Bush's victory, which you contributed exactly one vote in millions to--and almost certainly nothing else--make you entitled to gloat?

I hate to burst your bubble, but you didn't do anything that was so spectacular that you're therefore free of all societal constraints of good taste. And you, personally, did not -win- anything; the victory was for Bush and his campaign managers, and you contributed in an incredibly minimal way to that. Take pride in it if you want; that's fine. But you did no more than any Democrat or Libertarian or anybody else who voted, and your candidate happening to win is not a permission slip to act like a fuck.

I have friends who are Republicans, and none of them feel that having their candidate in the White House gives them the right to act like an utter douche. So why, exactly, do you think you are?

I'll give you a hint here: if you're one of the only people doing something that other people say is rude and wrong, chances are...

Anyways, No I did not contribute much to Bush's victory. In fact, I would say whining liberals like yourself contributed more to his victory. After 4 years of "OMG I HATE BUSH CAUSE HE IS TEH STOOPID AND TEH WARZ" I think grated on enough nerves of regular Joes so they showed up en masse on election day to make sure Bush stayed in office. What I think you've failed to see after the last 100 posts is that we don't need any excuses. We don't need justifications, and we don't need any reason. All you need to know is that people's stupidity (i.e. yours) and people's misery (i.e. gloating liberal bastards who got what was coming to them) give us great joy. I don't know, nor do I really care what was said in that other person's journal. What I do see is someone trying to impress us with a superior attitude, and admonish those here for chuckling at the irony of the situation.

What it comes down to is the fact that Republicans can actually celebrate this presidential win. We've had four years of nothing but bitching and moaning about how "Bush stole the election" or "he's not my president." Being a Republican is often like being a leper in the Dark Ages; we are shunned, put down, called ignorant, illiterate, red necks etc...etc...etc...
